Classic Coastal Romance: A Timeless Wedding at Shutters Hotel

Yesterday, we had the joy of designing a beautiful wedding at Shutters Hotel, where the ocean, sunshine, and flowers came together in the most elegant way.
The floral direction was all about classic simplicity. Soft ivory, creamy white, and the palest blush created a romantic palette that felt timeless rather than trendy. We used layers of white hydrangea, ivory and blush roses, delicate accent flowers, and touches of eucalyptus and soft greenery to keep everything fresh, graceful, and effortless.
The ceremony took place overlooking the Pacific, with an abundant floral arch framing the ocean. From a distance, the design felt clean and refined. Up close, you could see all the beautiful texture from the roses and hydrangea woven throughout the arch. Low floral arrangements lined the aisle, allowing the ocean view to remain the star while still creating that magical walk toward the ceremony.
Inside, we continued the same floral story. The reception centerpieces were low and intimate, designed in soft neutral vessels so guests could easily see and speak across the tables. Cream and blush flowers complemented the linens and candlelight without overpowering the room.
One of my favorite details was the sweetheart table. We created a lush floral installation across the front and along the floor, almost creating a garden around the couple. The fireplace and floral arrangement above added another romantic layer to the room.
Even the wedding cake became part of the floral experience. A full ring of fresh flowers surrounded the cake table, transforming a simple white cake into a beautiful centerpiece of its own.
The seating chart was finished with small floral accents, carrying the same palette from the ceremony all the way through the reception. Every area felt connected.
That is something I always tell my wedding couples: your flowers do not need to be complicated to make an enormous impact.
Sometimes the most beautiful wedding design comes from choosing a limited color palette, repeating it intentionally, and allowing each space to breathe.
White represents purity and new beginnings. Soft blush adds romance, tenderness, and warmth. Greenery brings life and nature into the celebration.
Together, these colors created a wedding that felt romantic, peaceful, sophisticated, and completely timeless.
And when your ceremony backdrop is the Pacific Ocean at sunset, you really don’t need to compete with nature. You simply frame it.
